Introducing Sulena Olivia-Music to your ears“Can anything good come out of Nazareth” they said of Jesus. Just as her Lord and Savior, Sulena Morris was born and raised in a small town. Born and raised in Havre de Grace, MD and conceived by now Pastors Greg and Pearlene Morris, Sulena entered the world in a faith filled home.
At the age of three Sulena began singing at the table and around the house. Not too many years later she entered the children’s choir at her home church Gospel Tabernacle Church of Havre de Grace, MD, pastored by the now Bishop Harry T Lee, Sr, presiding prelate of the PAC of JC Inc. (Pentecostal Assembly Churches of Jesus Christ Inc.). At the age of ten, college ruled papers began filling up with lyrics of inspiration from the heart of this vocalist and arising songwriter. In her teenage years Sulena assumed the position of Worship Leader at the Gospel Tabernacle Church and began a singing group with her sisters, by the name, Called. A short time later the name changed to Called by God, to ensure that it be known who they were sent by. Called by God traveled up and down the east coast for ten years with their preaching father and mother, Greg and Pearlene Morris, as well as Sulena-who began preaching at age 15. Performing original songs as well as great Gospel pieces by other artist of this genre, Called by God became a public domain particularly in Harford, Cecil and Kent County, Maryland, Deleware, and the Eastern Shore area of Maryland. Recording with vocal artists, Christian Estep of Havre de Grace, MD in 2000, Maureen Jeffreys of Baltimore, MD in 2004, and Nigel Andrews of Alabama also in 2000, she is no stranger to the aspects of recording and the music studio. Sulena has opened up performances for Gospel icons such as Trinity 5:7, Maurette Brown-Clark, and has also ministered in song in the presence of Pastor Hezekiah Walker.
Labeled often as a “true worshipper”, she consistently leads audiences into the presence of God. In 2000, she, with her family joined the leadership staff at Olivet Pentecostal Church of Love of Kent County, Maryland where she served as Minister of Music as well as an associate Youth Pastor until Spring of 2005. There she directed two choirs lead the Praise and Worship team, held seminars for aspiring musicians and more.
